Morning Walking Safari
Your Walking Safari starts very early, before the crack of dawn, where your
Ranger will meet & greet you at your Lodge or Hotel. There the Ranger will
welcome you and discuss the day’s activity in full. We will depart on an Open
Safari Vehicle for a Morning Walking Safari in a Private Concession in the
Kruger National Park.
Arriving at the concession we will enter at the gate and drive to Mjejane River
lodge, a 5 star lodge overlooking the Crocodile River. The moment we enter
through the gates your game viewing experience begins! Over a steaming cup of
hot beverage your Ranger will do a proper pre-trail briefing. We then board a
specialized game viewing vehicle and rive to an area where there is bountiful
game for the walk.
Once the vehicle is secured under a shady tree your Ranger will once again brief
you on trail etiquette. Pending on the size of the group you will also be
accompanied by a second armed Ranger, also known as a Tracker or Second rifle.
In single file, walking softly, with all senses pealed to be alerted of any game
movement you will walk through untamed African bush! Every now and then when
your Ranger spot something interesting, he/she will point it out and explain the
creature big or small, might it even be one of the big five! You will do regular
stops to talk and have a sip of water during the three-hour walk. The weakest
member of the party will determine the pace of the walk. It is a very
informative walk looking at insets, plants, tracks, dung, birds and of course
game!
On this early morning game walk we expect to see the nocturnal animals heading
for a den to sleep the day away and the diurnal game waking up to start another
day in their lives in Africa. It is also the best time of the day see lion
activity.
Upon our return to Mjejane River Lodge after our walk we will be thrilled with a
scrumptious breakfast over looking the Crocodile River.
Maximize your Game Viewing experience by going on a Walking Safari with us, we
not only spot game easier but also have the advantage of being in the bush on a
daily basis and knows the roaming area of different species of mammals.
We will not only assist you in spotting the game but also change every sighting
into an experience by interpreting the bush and give a detailed explanation of
mammal behavior. Our Rangers are experienced and well qualified to share a
wealth of knowledge.
We depart, as friends round about midday when we return you to your lodge.
